alfanar’s maintenance support for Petro Rabigh 2020 turnaround receives accolades from client


    alfanar Engineering Services continues to impress its clients from various industries for the maintenance and reengineering services and solutions it provides, making it the leaders in the region!
    The Petro Rabigh facility which produces, and markets refined hydrocarbons and petrochemicals has a major turnaround project every 4-5 years, wherein the facility is completely shut down for a period of three months. alfanar was the proud re-engineering and maintenance partner chosen for Petro Rabigh’s major plant turnaround recently.
    With a short challenging time schedule to perform the maintenance activities for its transformers and motors in the Polymer production division, the technical services team is proud to have completed the maintenance activities on 137 motors and 34 transformers in the given shutdown period which warranted an appreciation letter from the Petro Rabigh’s Power System division.
    Additionally, the Testing & Commissioning team also provided maintenance support to the client for the facility for 16 MV/LV switchgears at its substation Motor Control Centers (MCC’s) and 102 Variable Speed Drives (VSD).
    It is worth mentioning that the turnaround programme is one of the biggest in the region and included the participation of more than 50 companies, and employing a total of 4,000 personnel.

ATS Becomes First Company in KSA to Locally Repair 230kV Class Power Transformers


    At alfanar Technical Services (ATS) rising to a challenge is an established fact! Recently, the team successfully achieved the repair and rewinding of a 120MVA, 230/115kV Class Power Transformer at its Jubail facility. This achievement makes ATS the first facility in Saudi Arabia to locally rewind a 230kV class transformer.
    The commitment and the expertise shown by the alfanar team warranted a strong appreciation letter from the client – Sharq, an affiliate of SABIC, who praised the ATS for its professionalism and outstanding support. As a critical transformer feeding the plant load, the equipment was successfully re-wound and tested, successfully passing all tests including the routine, special and type tests during FAT, and commissioned at site well ahead of the scheduled date.
    ATS provided the unique solution after studying site requirements, by designing and modifying the transformer tank to accommodate the new surge arrestors; supplying, testing and commissioning the 115 KV (Oil to SF6) surge arrestors as an added value.

Awards and recognition galore mark the Annual Day celebrations in Jubail


    Celebrating the success of 2019 and in anticipation of an even bigger and successful 2020, alfanar Technical Services and alfanar Steel jointly organized their 13th Annual Day celebrations at SABIC Beach Camp, Abu Ali Island in Jubail recently.
    Mr. Amer Al Ajmi, General Manager, Engineering Services, presided over the celebrations along with Mr. Jalapathy Cherukayil, ATS Manager. While addressing the gathering, Mr. Amer praised the employee efforts of both business units in strengthening its position and gaining client confidence that contributes to the company’s success. He further highlighted the importance of following and adhering to safety procedures set by alfanar in all its business processes to ensure a safe work environment.
    Sharing the true spirit of togetherness and success to further create a positive working environment, the business units this year established several events to commemorate the best performers in the business.
    The “Shield of Excellence” was awarded to Mr. Anil Kumar Panjani, Generator Manager (ATS) and to Mr. Muhammad Farooq, HSE Engineer (alfanar Steel). A special award, “Young Engineer” was presented to Mr. Fauzan Ismail Hamdule, Vibration Engineer, Motors Department, ATS.
    To mark the close of the celebrations, management honored employees from ATS and alfanar Steel who have achieved 10+ years of service by presenting them with a memento recognizing their achievements and contributions. Prizes and mementoes were also distributed to participants and winners of the various associated events and sporting activities held during the Annual Day celebrations.

Safety Slogan contest prompts wide response from employees


    In an effort to inspire a spirit of safety consciousness among its workforce, alfanar Engineering Services, represented by alfanar Technical Services and alfanar Steel, conducted a Safety Slogan contest ahead of their annual day celebrations. The Safety Slogan contest was designed to increase safety awareness by motivating employees to jot down their thoughts and propose a catchy safety slogan.
    Management’s initiative to organize this contest instilled a competitive spirit amongst the employees to follow safety measures both on and off the job. A special committee was constituted to adjudicate the top slogans from among the 200+ entries received from employees. The entries that secured the greatest number of votes received a special reference and appreciation certificates were presented to the winners.
    The appreciation certificates and prizes were distributed by Engr. Amer Al Ajmi, General Manager, alfanar Engineering Services, during the Annual Day festivities. It is also worth mentioning that the selected slogans will be used in various safety materials inside the business unit.

    ATS entries that bagged the prizes were:
    - First prize : “Carefulness costs you nothing, but carelessness may cost you your life, FOLLOW SAFETY” by Mr. Hedayat Ullah.
    - Second prize : “It is better to lose one minute in life than to lose life in a minute’’ by Mr. Jobin Thomas.

VIP Delegation from the Saudi Council of Engineers visits alfanar Industrial City


    In line with its ongoing cooperation with the Saudi Council of Engineers, and as part of the AED General Relations Dept initiatives for social responsibility in collaboration with alfanar Training Institute, alfanar recently hosted a VIP delegation from the Saudi Council of Engineers at alfanar Industrial City. Led by Eng. Hussien Bin Salem Al Shammari, Saudi Council of Engineers Vice President, the delegation was warmly received by Mr. Sabah Al Mutlaq, alfanar Vice Chairman, Mr. Amer Al Ajmi, alfanar Engineering Services General Manager, department and factory managers.
    The visit began with a welcoming note by Mr. Sabah Al Mutlaq, alfanar Vice Chairman, followed by a presentation by Mr. Turki Humaidan Al Turki, General Relations Manager, AED Marketing Dept. on alfanar’s activities and its social responsibility programs. In his presentation, Mr. Al Turki outlined alfanar’s efforts to conduct training programs for university students that gives a practical perspective of curriculum study and opens new horizons for newly graduated engineers to achieve their career ambitions.
    The SCE delegation experienced the practical application of the advanced industrial capabilities and technological advancements of alfanar’s industrial arms when they toured the production lines, which included distribution boards and standard products, low and medium voltage switchgear, cables and wires, electrical switches and sockets, circuit breakers and transformers factories. The SCE delegation also witnessed the various rigorous tests that are conducted on the products to ensure they meet the highest safety and quality standards.
    The visit agenda included a business meeting between the delegation and alfanar representatives to discuss ways of enabling the Saudi engineers who graduated from the “Be Ready“ training program that was launched by alfanar in collaboration with SCE, so that they take advantage of the opportunity of achieving a promising career path.

    Recently, alfanar Engineering Services received an appreciation letter from the Onshore Production Department of Al Khafji Joint Operations (KJO) – a joint venture between Kuwait Gulf Oil Company and Aramco Gulf Operations, which operates the Al Khafji oil field with a total production of 175 thousand barrels per day.
    The appreciation letter was provided for the preventive maintenance for electrical equipment system during turnaround of the south area. Moreover, the project was completed in the scheduled time with the highest safety and quality standards as prescribed in the cope.

    Celebrating the success of 2019, the alfanar Engineering Services’ Sales and Marketing Department recently conducted its Annual Day event at the Sofitel Hotel in Bahrain. As is traditional for Annual Day, several fun-filled team-building activities were organized to nurture team spirit, boost team member morale, and celebrate the year’s achievements.
    A ceremony was held with awards being distributed to top employees in recognition of their performance during 2019 and appreciation awards presented to Engineering Services’ business unit heads for their continued support of the Sales and Marketing Dept.
    Mr. Sattam Al Motairi, Executive Manager - Sales & Studies congratulated the sales team on their outstanding achievements in 2019 and highlighted the challenges for 2020. While detailing the plan for the upcoming year, he stressed the importance of aligning the team’s efforts to achieve the goals and objectives. The Annual Day concluded with a positive outlook and anticipation for an outstanding 2020 business year.

    alfanar had a remarkable presence at the 13th SABIC Conference & Exhibition held at the King Abdul Aziz Cultural Center in Jubail from the 17th to 19th February 2020.
    Organized under the theme “Chemistry 4.0”, the exhibition had an overwhelming response which attracted more than 35,000 plus visitors and 400 exhibiting companies from over 35 countries, making it an internationally renowned event.

    A high-level delegation from the Arab-Brazilian Chamber of Commerce recently visited the alfanar Industrial City to witness the advanced industrial capabilities of the facility.     As part of its commitment to social responsibility for people with disabilities (PwDs) and its belief in the importance of investing in their potential for their integration as active members of society, alfanar, in collaboration with the Ministry of Human Resource and Social Development, has attracted young people with special needs with suitable employment opportunities and qualified them to work in all its facilities by providing a more supportive work environment to them.
    To crown these efforts, the Ministry of Human Resource and Social Development has granted alfanar a Bronze Level “Mowaamah” certificate for creating a more supportive work environment for people with disabilities (PwDs) in its facilities and in appreciation of alfanar’s continuous support towards employees with disabilities.

    alfanar recently participated in the 5th edition of IKTVA SMEs Forum and Exhibition 2020 which was organized by Saudi Aramco from Feb 24-25, 2020 in Dhahran Expo, Dammam. Inaugurated by His Royal Highness , Prince Saud Bin Nayef, Governor of Eastern Province under the motto, “Local Focus, Global Vision”, His Highness welcomed participants from high ranking government officials, decision makers and company executives stating, “The IKTVA program is considered unmatched experience to create tremendous business opportunities to the national economy and private sector through investing in the development of the local supply chain to boast it to a global level and thereby give it a distinctive competitive advantage”.

    In pursuit of establishing its presence in the regional Oil and Gas industry, alfanar Engineering Services recently participated in the Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference (ADIPEC 2019) in Abu Dhabi. Under the patronage of Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, and in the presence of Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs, the event had a participation from more than 2,200 international companies and more than 155,000 trade visitors.
    The ADIPEC exhibition is one of the largest exhibitions in the world and one of the most influential forums for specialists and experts in the oil and gas sector which highlights the impact of digital and emerging technologies on the oil, gas and energy sector.
    The alfanar booth showcased the latest technologies and solutions in maintenance and engineering services particularly for the Oil & Gas industry. As a field services, operation and maintenance solution provider for complete asset lifecycle management, alfanar’s booth garnered high interest and engagement from visitors. The owner of the IDC, the company that represents alfanar in UAE, H.H. Sheikh Tahnoun Al Nahyan, visited the alfanar booth and was welcomed by Mr. Sattam Almotairi, Executive Manager, Studies & Sales. His Highness expressed his admiration of alfanar’s diverse services in the fields of inspection, testing, maintenance and reengineering services of transformers, motors and generators for the oil and petrochemical industry.
    On the sidelines of the exhibition, alfanar Engineering Services entered into an MoU with Iraq based Technical Solutions Industrial Company. This agreement will enhance the cooperation with TSI to promote ATS services, including the repair and rewind of static and rotating equipment in Iraq and it is in the line with company’s vision of forging business relationships to expand its services in markets like Iraq.
